LOOKBOOK update: vol. 6

Here are some really cute looks for Spring and Summer! Sorry this is a really long post, there were just so many great outfits this time around and so much inspiration haha. Enjoy!
Daniela R. wears a breezy white skirt and a pastel loose tank with white and metallic sandals. Mint is a trendy color this season and her bag is the perfect staple for a Spring wardrobe.

One of my favorite bloggers Amy Valentine wears a great night outfit for the transition into warm weather! She carries over her adorable Jeffrey Campbell spiked damsel wedges (which you can get here) from winter to spring. I love the cutouts at the back and shoulders of this simple black dress. And that pink hair!

Side note: these Damsel wedges were actually the first JCs I purchased. I bought them online for $209 which is more than I would probably spend now. I ended up returning them because I felt they restricted the motion in my ankles too much but other than that they were super comfortable! They're surprisingly easy to walk in for such high heels. I definitely recommend them if you like the style.

Here's a cool twist on a classic look from Bernadette F. She makes this simple outfit her own with unique accessories. I posted an outfit of hers in a previous lookbook update here where she is wearing the same top, so take a peak for an alternate way to wear this top.

I loooooove this dress on "Slim" Shay D. The mesh cutouts giving a little peak of skin is so cute but because they're so narrow it still has a classy look. And dayumm those gladiator heels are hot!

This outfit is one of my faves on this list. The adorable printed shorts on Daniela R. match perfectly with her blazer and tank. Add some summery wedges and simple jewelry and you have an adorable outfit perfect for so many occasions.

This is a great Spring take on the military trend. These snake print beige jeans are awesome and go so well with her jacket. See Sirma M.'s full outfit post here

Borrow some tips from Christine Y. on how to transition into spring by carrying over pieces from winter to summer. Here, Christine wears some more winter-like pieces of black jeans and a heavy leather studded black bag. She combines it with a jean jacket and a tank in light pastel colors. Her black bralette is also so cute and ties the dark bottom of her outfit into the light upper. Definitely going to have to try this look out!

Kryz U. kills it in this pastel outfit. I love this shirt, the mint and purple work so well together. And the stripes in the shorts are subtle and cute.

Lastly, I've been seeing the '90s trend of wearing a flannel tied around your waste everywhere now! Here are three different versions of the look. This is perfect for Spring and cooler days of Summer because you can tie it over shorts and tanks and then as it gets cooler wear it layered for warmth. Check it out:

Here is Megan B. Wearing a pale blue flannel over jean shorts and a black tank. Black boots keep the outfit cool while still looking comfy and effortless. So cute!

"Slim" Shay D. wears these Nasty Gal harness shorts with a plain white crop top and black Docs. The red plaid shirt brings a pop of color and the outfit looks so badass!

Jeffrey Campbell Clinics

I bought these wedges months ago but I finally feel like I have worn them enough to do a proper shoe review on them. First off, if you read my posts here or here you know that I wanted these shoes for literally years before I bought them. So I was sure that I really wanted them and I wouldn't get sick of them after a few months like I tend to do haha. Also they were on sale at karmaloop and I was able to use a promo code so I got them for just over $100 when they originally cost almost $200. Here are some pictures I've taken of them before I get into the review:

These shoes are ridiculously comfy. The wedge is so easy to walk in and the insoles have so much cushion. My left foot is a decent amount bigger than my right so I wear a bandaid on the inside of the ball of my foot so the shoe won't rub and I'm good to go. That's really the only blister type of issue I've ever had with them and the bandaid fixes it. I did not have to go through a phase of breaking them in, they were great from the start. I would also say they run true to size. I'm usually a 6.5 or 7 and I have these in a 6.5. They're not small at all, especially with the pointed toe which gives extra room for your toes.

These are the original JC Clinics and I haven't been able to find them online anywhere recently. I must have caught on to the last wave of them! But Jeffrey Campbell did make a new version of them when they came out with their lucite and ombre heeled shoes. These Clinics are in a charcoal color with a shinier vinyl shoe body. They do not have a mirror so if that's not really your thing then these might be perfect for you! They are more expensive but still super cute, and hopefully they'll go on sale eventually too. Find them here at solestruck.com and see a preview below:

So that's basically everything! I absolutely love these shoes and they match everything from jeans to dresses to shorts in the summer. I hope you enjoyed my review!

An Ode to the Crop Top

I got a new crop top today and it got me thinking, honestly, who doesn't love a good crop top? They're perfect for the warm summer months and easy to layer and carry over into the fall. They come in halter, tank, roll-neck, tube, bustier, racer-back and so much more! They can be loose or tight, revealing or covering, light or thick! There's a crop top for everyone!

One of my favorite crop tops I've seen recently on a celebrity is this tropical bustier on Selena Gomez. It leaves just a touch of skin above her skirt, keeping the look classy. The orange skirt and patterned crop top with baby blue color blocking are busy enough so she wears minimal accessories and simple nude heels. Somehow she manages to pull off that pale orange lip too!

What we don't see in the picture above is that the top also has a tie back! This is awesome because it allows the top to fit many different sizes and also adds a cool dimension to the back of the outfit. And maybe it's just me but doesn't it look like there are eyes in the white part of the straps...?

Try out the tropical trend with this crop top from Free People! This bikini top is also of a similar style to Selena's. It even has a tie back and is perfect for the festival season.

Next, we have Melanie Iglesias in a simple off the shoulder crop top in black. I love a top like this because it is so versatile and can be worn in so many combinations. Here, Melanie pairs it with a cool pair of acid wash jean shorts and tights. Here long hair pairs so well with the off the shoulder top. So cute!

Here's a similar top in lace from Nasty Gal! Get it for only $38.
Or try these other options:

For a casual night out, I love this look! A sparkly crop top with with some sleek black skinnies and adorable heels is so easy but so cute! And OMG I am obsessed with this hair color! Take a peek:

Get your own beaded crop top here from pink mascara!

Here is a completely different look for a crop top. Shenae Grimes wears a bohemian style crop top that is very sheer with a simple black bralette underneath. I love he length of the sleeve and the high neck. Because the fabric is sheer the high neck isn't too overwhelming or frumpy with the long sleeves. She continues with the bohemian look with a belted maxi skirt. So chic!

For a bohemian style crop top, try the True Harmony Lace Top from Thread Sence!

So there you have it! Four different ways to wear a crop top. Which will you pick? Let me know below!

Time for a new lookbook update! The last update I did was specific in the components and details of the outfits, so this time I'm gonna keep it simple. I'm just going to add a few small notes in parentheses next to the links where you can find the original source. Enjoy!

Lua P. (simple and perfect, minus the shoes)

Pam S. (I love the Motel ornate skirt!)

Jessica C. (galaxy and leather)

 Jessica R. (leopard pants!)

Bernadette F. (denim shirts and circle skirts! The JC coltranes look great on her too.)

daily inspiration: spring break

Spring break marks the beginning of the spring season, but after a long cold winter in the Midwest it means that we're that much closer to summer! Break out the shorts and tank tops! haha but on a serious note, spring break is the perfect time to start the transition from winter to summer and incorporate more florals and summer colors into your wardrobes. Here's my inspiration as I begin to make the transition:

sunnies and top knots

flowy pastels from christeric.com

neutral suede

turquoise jewelry (and nails)

salty beach hair

sun-induced freckles (and such pretty eyes!)

HANG LOOSE and enjoy the beginning of spring!
